Our most popular product, Prairie PlugsTM, have a 2 1/4" top diameter and measure approximately 4 1/2" deep. Grooves running lengthwise channel the roots to the open bottom of the pot where they are air pruned. This avoids root circling and stimulates lateral branching of the root system. Even tap rooted species develop more root tips, resulting in faster establishment when planted out in the landscape.
Parthenium integrifolium, Prairie quinine, is a tap-rooted species, but Country Road Greenhouses’ special growing process promotes multiple root tips which speed establishment in the prairie landscape.
